I had a transcendental experience last night and I can’t stop thinking about it. I went to an Indian restaurant with Z. and her brother, who are Indian themselves and have an intimate knowledge of the food. Z. ordered Delhi Papri Chaat, which I’d never had before. Let me tell you- this dish has changed my life! It was insanely good. The first bite took my breath away. *sigh* My mouth tingled and my tongue danced with joy. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, I got shivers and goosebumps. No joke. One of the best things I’ve eaten in all my gastronomic adventures!
From the menu: “Famous street food from Delhi. A tongue tingling liaison of crispy papri wafers, course potato mash and chickpeas embroidered with cool yogurt and tart tamarind chutney with a light sprinkling of roasted spices”. It also had a delicate drizzle of cilantro-mint chutney and pomegranate seeds on top. The flavors just explode. This is not a photo from dinner, but it’s the closest I could find:
