Day 206 – Sarah

So, I’m clearly behind, but still grateful!

The soft glow of Christmas tree lights in my apartment.

Day 115-131 Sarah

Behind once again, but still very grateful for…

Cool crisp fall mornings and pleasantly warm sunny afternoons, laughter in the classroom with students, good discussions with students in the classroom, history major bonding activities, laughter with my colleagues over drinks, good training runs for my half marathon in three weeks, festing at the Celtic Classic, finding time to work on scholarship, holding on to memories of Rome, and having good health.

Day 94 thru 114 – Sarah

Hmm, I have lagged in contributing my posts, but not for lack of being grateful!

Over the past three weeks, I am grateful for new relationships with students, being back in the classroom, teaching the history of China even though I’m an Americanist, coming up with new ideas for scholarship, applying to spend a semester in Rome and being excited about class proposals, being and talking with my colleagues again, fitting in Yoga and training runs, Yoga-ing and running to provide much needed emotional and psychological relief, the pending season of fall and cooler temperatures, spending time with friends, and finding time to rest my mind even if its only for a few minutes each day.

Phew. The academic year had arrive!

Day 91, 92, 93 – Sarah

Day 91 – A challenging, yet needed Yoga practice with a very calming and helpful instructor.

Day 92 – Seeing school colleagues gather for advising day.

Day 93 – After being in denial mentally and emotionally that the academic year started today, I found myself excited and happy to be back in the classroom, even if it was mainly to review the syllabus.

Day 88-90 – Sarah

Day 88 – A safe flight from the land of much-loved family and friends in South Dakota to Pennsylvania, with the aid of an inflight glass (or two) of wine.

Day 89 – A trip to YoFresh, a frozen yogurt establishment with so many toppings your head spins, with friends.

Day 90 – A last summer BBQ with friends, to be followed with fall BBQs with friends!

Day 71 & 72 – Sarah

Day 71 – Finishing Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand. If you haven’t read it, you must! What insight into both the worst and the best of humanity.

Day 72 – Completing my longest training so far for my Half Marathon in October, running 9.25 miles in 1:15. Feeling good and ready for a carbo-loaded beer 🙂
