Having learned a lot about myself this last year, I know I’m incapable of posting every day, so while I will try, I’m likely going to post once a week. Year 2 started while I was away on vacation, spending time on the coast of Maine with my girlfriend, and relishing every moment of relaxation before diving into the craziness that is my summers.
Week 2- I caught a cold. A nasty little summer cold that had me down and out for the week. But I’m on the mend after shocking my body with vitamin C, lemon ginger honeyed tea, and lots of spicy foods. Oh and plenty of sleep and hallucinogenic, dream-inducing NyQuil.
My goal for year two is to post more and take more photos. Below are two photos capturing how I’ve spent my time in recent weeks and months.
The first is of Maine from the misty vacation. The second is of the little man who has stolen my heart with his every hiccup, sneeze, gasp, murmur, and especially smile, my nephew Cal.
Happy New Year! Here’s to a new year full of potential.
I’m at the tail-end of my extended holiday vacation and finally have a chance to get online. It’s been a whirlwind of a week, bouncing around the east coast to visit with friends in different cities. And it has been a blast! A much welcomed vacation and an opportunity to reconnect with my best friends, who I do not get to see often enough. A week packed with laughter and good times, and for that I am exceedingly grateful.
I hope that I’ll be able to spend more time with them in the coming year.
I’m back at my desk, holding on to my wonderful vacation memories and planning for the future. I’m grateful I have the luxury of options and taking my time for my personal life.
Work is a different matter at this time, which is why I’m behind posting here. For work, I’m grateful I have technology to support this onslaught of work that tumbled in while I was away.
Vacation. I just had a week of vacation and can’t get back into the swing of things. My body and soul are still on vacation and want to continue last week’s escapes. I just want to get up in the morning and go to the cafe for a latte and read a book or write some more letters. Or perhaps drive up to the reservoir and perch on the rocks by the shore, dipping my toes in the cool water while I’m sketching or reading. Even better, how about going for a nice swim? It sure felt good getting those swimming muscles going again and my injured foot liked the extra stretching (for the most part). I want to walk through the hills and the fields with the sun on my face and the breeze in my hair (though I could have done without the goldenrod!).
It was one of those vacations that was completely unscheduled and I was able to do whatever I wanted at any time. It was perfect for me. And I spent the entire week being grateful for every moment and small gift of freedom.
But I’m back to the grind at work. I just need to hold on to the happiness of my vacation to carry me through and remind me that i have a lot to be grateful for all the time.
Grateful I have 8 hours left before I can let my hair down for a week. I’m going on vacation, the first summer vacation in 5 years! I’m heading to north/western MA, bordering VT to my friend E.’s place and camping in her yard. Like me, she does not have internet access at her house! This means I’m offline for days 82-90, but will have an ample update when I return. I’m anticipating being grateful for many things in the next week, including lots of swimming and lounging by the lakes, walking in the woods, perching myself under a tree to read for hours on end, writing in my journal on the porch with a cuppa tea in hand, and lots of laughter with my BFF. Dear vacation, I love you already 🙂
